Maze Of Terror – Skullcrusher
Maze of Terror hail from Lima, Peru, which is pretty far out. A thrash metal band from Peru. Yes, there are other metal bands from Peru, but not like this.
"Skull Crusher" is a five song EP released in 2012 and kicks ass from start to finish. There is only one way to do thrash metal successfully, and "Skull Crusher" pulls it off with remarkable accuracy.
This EP starts with characteristic wild drums, guitar, and bass; wild everything. Black metal vocals and breakdowns throughout this release are what make it pop.
‘Hatred & Repression,’ kicks ass, period. Every element of classic thrash metal is in this song. The fundamentals of thrash metal are throughout the EP, but this song particularly oozes classic thrash. From the blistering opening, through the many changes from verse to verse ‘Hatred & Repression’ is the kind of song in which every thrash freak loves to headbang.
The last track on the EP, ‘Run With Death,’ is simply brutal. This is the epitome of every thrasher’s dream. The grungy guitar and bass chords along with the definitive snare drums pushes this song to thrash metal limits. There is even a guitar solo about three minutes in reminiscent of Slayer’s classic ‘Angel Of Death.’
So if you like death metal, black metal and thrash metal all rolled up into a convenient ball of awesomeness, get "Skull Crusher" by Maze Of Terror and give your ever-loving metal molded ears a good thrashing. This is a tight album bursting with so many elements of old school thrash metal; you will think you were transported back to 1986.
