Meathook - Crypts, Coffins, Corpses

Meathook is a band formed in 2007 in Phoenix, Atrizona, USA, by Gonzales brothers, that plays brutal death metal in the vein of 90s and 2000s and this is their third album “Crypts, Coffins, Corpses” under the label Unmatched Brutality Records. A definition for the sound of Meathook is raw brutal death metal, with some parts near to slam, an ultra low growl voice, going to the point without detours. Everything what you can hear in this record is made to be sick, a suffering machine.

'Awaiting Torment', with an intro from Lord Of The Rings, it starts with brutal fury, and you realize that this will be a butchery. Those sick low growls give to the record a special insane touch. 'Cauldorm Of Dead Bodies' streaming of riffs, devised to destroy and slam, of course with a storm of blast beats, very well performed. It is difficult to have fresh sounds inside a closed genre as brutal death metal, but this band within the natural limits has nice compilation of good ideas. 'Purification Through Pain', without entertainments, direct to annihilation, it can remind old Cannibal Corpse.

'Crypts, Coffins, Corpses', it is not necessary to have a knot of fingers to play good riffs, it is necessary just good ideas, I like some dissonant touch, and this band does some times in this album. 'Placed Upon The Altar' in the same line that previous, brutality without lost control, clear riffs. 'Temples Made From Flesh', some dissonant riffs, what I have said before, in the same line.

'Disseminated remains', a ver good track, with an intro, good combination of fast parts with others crushing, and riffs not necessary complicated, just effective. 'Awakened By The Stench', forceful sample, as in the whole album. 'Coils Of Entrails', good variety of riffs, with the remind of old Cannibal Corpse in some times in this album.

A very good album of what you demad, brutal death metal, no more, homogeneous sound in general, but not monotonous, pretty varied. Highlights the voice, but we must add without a doubt the great work of the strings and the drums, making a compact and hard mix. Good production, they deserve a place on your shelf, a huge demonstration of brutality, but not a nonsense.
