Nastrandir - Prayer To Earth
Nastrandir (Germany) was founded in 2006. The first songs, classic Pagan/Viking Metal were published on the One-Track EP "Des Kriegers Reise" and the "Demo 2006". After that Nastrandir played gigs with bands like Moonsorrow, Ensiferum, Equilibrium, Korpiklaani and Tyr. All this resulted in a contract with Twilight and in 2007 they released "Zwischen Horizonten". Lyrically the band is talking about atmospheric an spiritual viking history. For the new record "Prayer To Earth" they also put references to present time.
Now we already mentioned "Prayer To Earth", this is their third full length and displays with 7 own songs the viking power. And on the limited digipack there is the cover of the Bathory song "Gods Of Thunder Of Wind And Of Rain". Musically Nastrandir goes from the traditional viking mid parts also into blast beats. The switch from mid to fast goes without hestitation and are dosed the right way. And with two guitarist you can expect some nice riffing or leads and there are also two vocalists. One providing the more growling and the other one doing the viking voice. And as you can see in the track list the songs are sung in German and English.
With "Prayer To Earth" Nastrandir delivered an entertaining album with enough variation in the songs and within the songs and those who like Viking metal should surely check this one out. And ofcourse all other people who want to hear something new.
