Necroblaspheme- XXVI: The Deeper - The Better

Necroblaspheme's EP 'The Deeper The Better' takes a rather unique spin on Death Metal to take things a bit further than the average release. The music here is rather atmospheric, bordering groups like Funeral Mist and even Deathspell Omega with a rather heavy, thick atmosphere and raging sound that is tempered with quieter moments. The vocals- as deep and bellowing as they are- feel like as if Arioch, the vocalist from Marduk, ever joined a Death Metal band, and the ugly tone to the vocals is perfect to really get into for the rather disturbing pace of the music. Tracks like "Seated To The Left Of The Sick" are heavy, distorted, and yet still provide a great level of atmosphere with the keyboards in the background. Everything feels a bit haphazard and all over the place, meshing well in some places and other times just random bursts of rhythm, but it keeps the music interesting. Other times such as with a track like "I, Shemale" there are quiet, single string picked moments that sound the complete opposite of the apocalypse just heard moments before, but again, the random variety keeps listeners on their toes. Some tracks like "Vautour" just don't let up and blaze all the way through, but overall for those who have never heard Necroblaspheme, this dosage is really quite just the amount to get into the band before venturing on to one of the bigger full length albums.
