Offending - Age Of Perversion
'Age Of Perversion' is a healthy lengthed, brutal offering of modern yet majestic death metal. The nine tracks on this album are spaced out with enough difference between them, embarking this release to become unique without the listener growing tired of hearing repeated death metal track after death metal track...
Starting track 'Infested By His Burden', has an epic intro of oldschool-death metal styled riffs that have enough build-up to pump you for what the following tracks shall deliver. Offending then go on to show off their diverse material by fusing many genres together to form their very own death metal brand. You will notice elements of black metal, oldschool death, modern death, as well as thrash and a hint of doom. Second track in 'Within This World' initially proves what a difference it is from the first track, using a faster, more melodic approach, yet double the lunacy provided.
Offending's urge to create such vicious and hateful music doesn't end there, 'Modern Enslavement' gives off a familiar Nile like sound that reminds me of 2007's 'Ithyphallic'. This of course isn't a bad thing. 'Dominion XXI' reveals to be again one of the more furious songs, almost resembling a Cannibal Corpse track - with a lot more going on! The fact that Offending's songs reminds me of current death metal legends is something the band should be proud of as each track does actually have their own profitable originality.
Stand out track 'Raped By Religion' is as heavy as they get, I would seriously recommend this song if you're going to give Offending a listen. The riffs are rapid-crazy, spiralling out of control mostly throughout. The vocals are death metal growls that may take time to grow to your liking, but after a while you hear the unique tones that begin to stand out.
If you like your death metal with a punch to the face then Offending is your band. The diversity is as accurate as I say, with plenty of action for it's listeners' desires to become fulfilled. 'Age Of Perversion' will surely be a metal treat for all that hear it's frantic tracks in the hope that Offending's future doesn't become clouded by sounding like their peers.
