Poppy Seed Grinder – Faceless Atrocities

If you are into qualitative death/grind metal then the name of the Checz monster Poppy Seed Grinder should ring a bell. The band exists since 1997 and in 2021 they release their fourth full-length album “Faceless Atrocities”.

So first things first – this record shows the most extreme female vocals that I have ever heard after Som Pluijmers from the mighty Cerebral Bore. I don’t know anything about Bara’s musical past as this is her debut for Poppy Seed Grinder but her growls are on par with the best male performers in the genre. When I heard her monstrous voice I thought immediately of Dying Fetus, that’s how bloody talented she is!

The other three guys in the band (Yarda on guitars, Klabi on bass and Stepan behind the drums) are extremely talented musicians who know how to deliver brutal guitar riffs and blasting drums. “Faceless Atrocities” offers plenty of groove parts, tempo changes and sonic brutality to the max. ‘No Way Out’, ‘Overdosed’, the title track ‘Faceless Atrocities’ …whatever you hear you will be blown away by the relentless aggression of Poppy Seed Grinder’s music and the mastery of their instrumental skills. You will be hit by the best elements of classic bands like Suffocation, Malevolent Creation, Dying Fetus, Internal Bleeding… but performed by a talented band with an original approach and ultra brutal female growler.

The production is on a very good level and all instruments may be clearly heard. Do not sit on your ass, listen to this album and support Poppy Seed Grinder! In my opinion “Faceless Atrocities” is easily one of the best albums for 2021 in the extreme metal genre!
