Promises - In The Pharmacy
Promises is a band formed back in 1994, so here we have an experienced outfit from the Czech Republic. After releasing 2 demos, one EP and one full-length, "In the Pharmacy" comes as a 7 years amount of work ("Flight to Fall", their debut album was released in 2000). I would say Promises is a rather good combination of Gothic Rock with Heavy Doom Metal, but unfortunately it has nothing to step forward, to inovate the genre. It is an enjoyable album with decent amount of interesting ideas, a good vocalist that bring both melody and mood to the whole, strong heavy power guitar riffs combined with some melodic alternative lead guitars, powerful rhythm section that crosses even progressive or new metal paths sometimes. But still it misses something to be considered a canditate for the top of this genre. If you want a complex album, a mix of many, many styles and sound. (review by Adrian Dan)
