Rebuig - Mort I Futur
This is Spanish sludge/doom, heavily influenced by the likes of Cathedral, Electric Wizard and general sludge masters. There is also a touch of psychedelic mastery from time to time and after a few listens, you really get a self-indulgent feeling of inclusion with this recording.
‘Penjat I Empalmat‘ flows with a wonderful dreamy doom flavour, like a fine wine, merging a latter Bathory guitar sound at the start then flowing into UK doom similarities. ’12 Metres’ is another fine effort, swarming with warm and passion. But then there is the filthy and the sludgy fury of the final two tracks. ‘Zulos I Democracia’ actually includes the trippy stance that I mentioned earlier coupled with a disjointed oddball guitar sound akin to someone playing out of tune, both are both worthy companions for each other.
The production is perfect for this style, the presentation/artwork is a little odd, less orthodox shall we say, but packaging is not what I am looking at here, only digital stills. The music itself shatters your senses and gives a well-rounded level of performance picking up influences from around the musical spectrum in term of powerful, well written doom and sludge.
