Redkey - Rage Of Fire
"Rage Of Fire" is a mixture of old and new heavy metal styles. It is the debut album of Redkey, two of whose members, vocalist Thomas Rettke and guitarist Sascha Paeth are former members of Heavens Gate, a metal band who were popular in the late 1980's. "Rage Of Fire" is a fusion of power and melodic metal somewhat akin to Judas Priest and other NWOBHM acts. Rettke has the same operatic vocal range of Rob Halford and manages to deliver a topnotch vocal performance. Stand-out tunes are title track "Rage Of Fire" and "Be My Guide" which features a killer guitar motif and vocal performance that is powerful yet sensitive. The album has some innovative instrumentation on many tracks with a nice mix of hard riffage, frenzied pyrotechnical guitar solos and mellow break-downs. The last track, "The Fortune" is an epic 8 and a half minute ballad with synths and soft vocals.
