Reign Of Vengeance - The Final Solution, The Final Rebellion

So here we are again, and in front of us this time, we have what appears to be a superband. We're talking about members from bands as Cephalic Carnage, Job For A Cowboy, Decrepit Birth, Goatwhore and some other major or minor bands, that are there to prove that this band is no band to be taken as a joke. All those veterans seem to be following the lead, and obviously the dream of the mainman of this band, Marshall Beck, a man that as said in the bio that followed this EP, is highly skilled and has participated in many forms of musical expression (not necessarily bands), concerning the vocals. But without trying to be mean, and seriously without me wanting to be the stupid ass reviewer, I think the problem with this release are the vocals.

But before we move on to that lets talk a few words on this phenomenal death metal band from Arizona! Reign Of Vengeance is a band not so old, but with very experienced band members, from top to bottom! Some references were made above so I think you get the point. "The Final Solution, The Final Rebellion", is the name of their new EP, and release for 2013 which succeeds a single, an EP and a full length of 2011. Apparently the music could not be anything less than decent, in fact the music is on a high level. Not an xtreme type of blasting death metal, neither a totally groovy one, somewhere in the middle, with the cradle leaning more to the groovy-technical side! It certainly is not the type of music that will drag you immediately in its vortex. It needs time to understand completely this type of death metal. The song structures have a certain weight, and are mainly structures, created to support Marshall Beck's lyrical concept, which, as said in the lyrics, is the result of deep investigation on the systems and the studies of the 'Illumed'. Unfortunately the vocal lines, he chose to use, or thought that would best fit this concept, are a level under every other instruments performance. I mean it is like everyone is doing his best and that the vocals are simply off. I mean… come on… It's death metal we're talking here. Everyone I would like to listen to a decent brutal growl, and this is really hard to find in here. I mean did you read that?? A death metal album with hardly enough growling?? Now that's something new. The vocal lines used in this EP, are basically some shrieky ones, combined with some dirty-clean ones and some growling ones here and thereÖBut when we say growling, don't think of the typical death metal abominable growling. It is mostly Hard voicing, if I can use that term, and in general the vocal lines to be more preside, seem kind of weak. It is not that Marshal Beck, is a bad singer or any of that, cos we're talking about a dude that apparently can master many vocal styles and trust me that is something hard to achieve. It is just that the patterns he chose, don't seem to fit well with the rest of the music on this EP. On the other hand that might just be my opinion, and someone more open minded than myself, could find this EP awesome.

Either way, just by having an EP with such band references, should trigger everyone's curiosity to check what those beasts can do when gathered around the fireplace.. Nevertheless, a really decent effort from a band that seems to have a different aspect on death metal, and tries to be original in its own way. Waiting on their next full..
