Rever - Make My Sorrow Pride

00s is the age of musical evolution! It actually started a little before 2000 but since no one can be precise about when and where, I think that by saying 00s(zeros), we define a good anchor point for when this whole drill started. I mean... before that, when you had inspiration and you needed some way quick and cheap to write it down, you could only rely to a good quality rehearsal. If you needed something more than that, you had to enter the studio from recording, all the way up to producing mixing and mastering! A rough procedure concerning a big amount of time and money. Now this whole shit has turned really easy. There are so many music engineering programs, that you can record whatever the fuck you like, produce it, mix it and master it and do whatever the fuck you like, with no cost at all. And I am ok with the easy part. But that alone won't do the job... I mean, because it is so easy, every dickhead with a musical program thinks he can write down music and be a rockstar! No sir! The hard part in creating music, always was and always will be the inspiration itself and the decency one must show to the audience his music refers to. It was never about the money. Being easy to create music nowadays works good only for those who really want to create music, and are descent and inspirational. In other words, to people who, one way or another, would create music either ways!

What we have here is a band from Indonesia called Rever wich is an abbreviation of the term 'Revolution Error'. What I listened to was hardly a song. Dudes... Seriously... A 3 song demo entitled "Make My Sorrow Pride" lasting a total of 2,86 minutes? I mean... come ooooon... That's the best you can do?? 2,86 minutes? With all this musical evolution bullshit and all the stuff about how easy it is to create music, you managed to release a 2,86 minutes demo?? I mean even if I try to stick in the musical part alone… I have to say that Rever try to play brutal death metal stuff. From the first note one can understand that they seriously need to learn how to deal with a drum machine. Their Music tends to remind Mortician a lot, but Rever's drum machine is really awfull. In only so little time it manages to bust your balls with all those conflicting frequencies! There are times when I actually couldn't separate the kick drum from the snare. Well, ok the vocals are good and there are some good riffs in all this joke but apparently they can't save the day!

The whole package becomes even more hilarious if you take a look at the layout of the CD where there's this shitty Photoshop montage of the earth and some bullshit alien freaks coming right at it...whatever. The whole release is sooooo cheap and laim! I mean... Come on guys… What's wrong with you? Why should you want someone to review that thing? I've seen demo's like this from many bands but they are for personal use only, and only for them to listen to! They make those things so that they have their music on tape so that they don't forget the riffs or whatever. They don't give that kind of crap for reviews... I mean, there's not actually something to review here. Well...Ok.. You just came up with a couple of objectively good riffs, long enough to fill one three minute song, you lay some shitty drum loops behind them, growl a little bit, split the song in three, fixed a stupid Photoshop bullshit for cover.. And there we have it? This is Rever's demo? The only thing that saves the whole story is that this demo was released back in 2008, and that they actually have some good riffs in there so hopefully their new stuff will be more mature (I want to believe it will at least have more songs!). So my advice to the boys from Indonesia is one....GET SERIOUS!!

  1. Make My Sorrow Pride
  2. Understand Death Has No Use For Time
