Revolting - Hymns Of Ghastly Horror

You like horror movies? You like Swedish death metal? Well if the answer is affirmative on both, Revolting is a band you must definitely check (if you haven't done that already). Revolting might not have such a big history since their calendar started on 2008, but they are really hardworkers. Those dudes from 2008 till 2012 managed to release one demo, one EP and four full length albums!

Not bad huh? Well, that might have a little bit to do with the fact that they are not infants in the scene. It worths mentioning, that their bass player, among other awsome bands, also plays fantastic death metal with Ribspreader (personal favourite), and along with the rest of the other members's side bands we can have a rather large list of death metal bands those guys are in. So you understand that we're talking about mature musicians that are really into two things: Horror movies and Swedish Death Metal!!

"Hymns Of Ghastly Horror" is their release for 2012 and it is already haunting my playlist and definitely, it is going to stay there long enough! When you talk about Revolting, the only thing you need to do, is check their artworks, or maybe just their logo and you can immediately understand what you're dealing with! Those swedish old schoolers take their love for 80s based horror movies, really deep into their music and they definitely manage to take that feeling to the listener! When you listen to Revolting you automatically enter the horror mode. Their music consists of mainly mid tempo parts with a lot of double kick drum, and the typical thrash beat everyone loves! There are some blast beats here and there but they are so few that one might not even notice their presence! The whole production reeks demise!

No shining and no polishing here! Guitars that scratch ears, a fat bass sound that makes bowels turn, and a truly gruesome growler that sounds like Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees together, all combined in well played and well constructed old school Swedish death metal platter of cruelty! Brutal but also melodic. But be carefull! When I say melodic, I don't mean gay emo shit. No no no... when we talk melodic, we mean rotten high frequency melodies that breathe the air of the 80s horror movie scene. Melodies that will make you shit your pants!

And as if that wasn't enough.... "Hymns Of Ghastly Horror" is equiped with horror samples, that make the whole thing even more horrid and creepy! Test your guts on it lads!
