Rudra – Brahmavidya: Trascendental I

I have to admit that I had never heard this name in my life even if I was starting to listen the 5th album of these guys: well at the end I can tell you that this one of the best black death surprise of the 2009. Let’s start to say something about them: Rudra was formed in 1992 in Singapore and now they are one of the leaders in the Asian Metal scene with their five released albums and a sound that’s something of really special. They call it Vedic Metal: a perfect bridge between the east and the west, characterized by an unique way of incorporating Indian traditional music into a fast and aggressive well played black death. Indian melodies and extreme metal but also Sanskrit chants and mantras for new mystical dimension: we are in front of something really hard to describe but really fascinating, brutal, atmospheric, tribal and ethnic, lyrically based on the Vedic philosophies. I’m feeling the same “sensations” I tasted many years ago with the mighty “Under the Monspell” but with the obviously different flavors of a totally different culture: something of beautiful, dark, ethnic and evocative. Don’t miss this hour of Music and many thanks to Vic Records for this present.
