Ruin Lust - Choir Of Babel

I'm way new to Ruin Lust. I did some research and saw these dudes, from New York, have been around since 2011. Not being familiar, I checked out their previous offerings. They were all shredders. Their upcoming LP, "Choir Of Babel", is a step above IMO. I feel the writing has improved, their sound has matured and this "cavernous" production fits their music very well.

"Choir Of Babel" begins with thunderous sounds of the apocalypse. Feedback, pounding drums and long drawn out hellish notes. Then, bam. a growl and it's literally blast off. Lightning tremolo riffs, blast beats, gnarly low end and Slayer/Deicide-esque lead squeals. With several members credited with vocal duties, there's a noticeable difference between song sections that add to the weight of their tunes. Ranging from growls to, almost, raspy shouts demanding your attention.

For just under 30 minutes, you get an LP that just DOES NOT let up. Pure fury of unrelenting sound. These dudes are doing this style how it should be done. In a time where filth seems to reign as king, Ruin Lust performs high quality death metal. They go above and beyond and do not rely on tone, production and speed. They have the meat to back it all up. All the aforementioned attributes just add to the sickness of this offering. This is a well written LP that can be listened to over and over. 20 Buck Spin has struck gold again. Get this the second it drops.
