Rwake - Voices Of Omens

"Voices Of Omens" by Rwake is a shamanistic journey through the backwoods of the southern psyche. It could be compared to Mastodon or Neurosis but more sludgey like Eyehategod or Crowbar. Rwake employ elements of sludge, doom and tech-rock, with varying time signatures and interesting rhythmic motifs. Some of the tunes have an almost medievil feel to them interweaving acoustic and clean electric with distorted fuzz guitar. There are some killer solos and nice washes of sinister sound effects and vocal tantrums of varying degrees, all combining to create a surreal listening experience. This is the fourth full-length album by the six-piece band and promises to bring the genre of doom-metal more into the mainstream than ever before. If you are a fan of doom or sludge-metal especially, you won't want to miss this one. Heed the voices!!!
