Sacramental Awakened - Turned To Stone
The Belgian band Sacramental Awakened has released their first CD called TURNED TO STONE on Rotten to the Core. The CD is fairly short, but this is not because of that special brutality that groups like Suffocation of Decapitated could overwhelm us with if they released long CDs. This is because the CD is a MCD released through a DIY blog site. Not a bad idea for a band working out how to have a future in out new age of music industry changes. I have heard other Belgian bands and I think this one is my least favorite. There is nothing “wrong” with the CD per se, but it is boring. The drums are not ripping, the guitar sounds amateurish, and the vocals are nothing particularly special. I like something more arty and over the top. Sacramental Awakened is not that band.
There are probably some fans out there among fans of Metallica and maybe In Flames. I say In Flames because they are talented but are not one of my faves either. They just might be on the “edge” for some people who are looking for something else. I am just not that listener. The band also claims Tool as an influence. I don’t hear it, but that just proves my point that Sacramental Awakened is mostly a metal riff band riffing off other better bands. Nothing special in my opinion.
