Saille - Ritu
This is nine track full length release from Belgian symphonic black metal band Saille and a pretty decent album it is too, this outfit have been going since 2009 and this is their second full length album. It kicks of with a cracking track “Blood Libel” which sets the album up nicely, some really good black metal vocals and some really neat guitar work all meshed with an atmospheric feel to it, good start!! Reinier and Jonathon are responsible for the guitars work on this album and the playing throughout is very good indeed. The vocals are a real raspy black metal style with some clean parts in various tracks, Dennie is responsible for this and does a good job. The bass and drums are provided by Didier and Gert and a special note for keyboard player Dries who adds a whole new dimension to the band with his playing. All the band seem very accomplished players and indeed it is very good throughout the album.
I am very partial to a good bit of black metal but the symphonic sub genre is not one I listen to very often but I do love the whole overblown pomp to this album it really is a very atmospheric release with some cracking tracks on it. You get nine tracks at just over forty seven minutes so it is good value. This is a hard job to pick out any favourite tracks as every track has its place in this release but if pushed my favourite would be the very creepy, nasty sounding “Fhtgn” which has a great riff and some nasty vocals, really good track!! The whole album is good so no point in picking out any more being better than the other.
If your taste runs to black metal then this album has enough to keep you interested and with the very atmospheric symphonic parts it is a very good listen indeed, ticked all the boxes for me. I would certainly urge you to buy this album as it is very good indeed and they are a band I will certainly be checking out again when the next release comes along, well recommended.
