Sarsekim - Fathom The Spheres

In 1998, from the ashes of the now defunct Dark Intent came the members of Sarsekim. A desire tocreate enigmatic death metal with influences from all sides of the musical spectrum led the members to where they are now - in a state of freedom to create anything. Within a framework with undefined limits they have a destinct style that is set apart from the masses. Sarsekim has been likened to many of the great death metal bands of years past and present, yet never has been put into the category of the clone like many these days are.

Sarsekim have released 2 E.P's - "Aegri Somnia Vana" - A 6 track E.P. in 2000, with former guitarist Brendan Mueller and former Drummer Nicholas Cole, which sold out soon thereafter, and "Paroxysm" in 2005.

Sarsekim have released their debut album "Fathom The Spheres" on Friday April 3rd at Enigma Bar in Adelaide with their new drummer Alan Cadman.

The guys from Adelaide, South Australia are playing brutal technical death metal. It's the bands first longplayer (about 38 min) and a self production. For a album without a label the sound is ok. The bass drum sounds luscious, the growls are deep and brutal, the guitars are ok, but could be a little more heavier. The songwriting is absolutley ok, the best moments are the fast midtempo parts, with nice lead guitar lines. The (forced) fast brutalĀ  parts sometimes sound a little sloppy. For the bands fisrt longplayer the album is well done.

Sareskim have a lot of good ideas, and really good parts in their songs. If the band will combine melodies and brutality better, taking more time on the next album, the successor will get 5 points.

1. The Consummate Destroyer
2. Continuing The Torment Of Confinement
3. Divining The Vital Source
4. Fragments Of The Unknown
5. The Transition
6. Sequestration
7. Noxious
8. The Tangible Being
