Seges Findere - Genocidal Offensive

Brazil's Seges Findere is a rather special piece of Death Metal to get into. Listeners will be soon to discover that they tend to do things backwards compared to the average Death Metal group; usually a group will make the guitars and vocals the focus, especially if they want a very fuzzy atmosphere to recapture the spirit of the 90s. Seges Findere- being the sort of War Metal performers they are- do the opposite and make the drums the biggest focus despite their raw sound. Right from the opening of 'Genocidal Offensive' listeners instantly know that this is going to be quite a militant album and also very enjoyable. The drum patterns of "Fertur..." are rhythmic, crunching, and feel very lively. On other tracks like "Luftwaffe Trumpet Resounds" listeners can definitely see how the drums get pushed to the front of the music and the guitars and vocals a bit more in the back. Everything constantly sounds like an anti-air battery going off. Sometimes it may seem montonous, but everyt once in a while the group will toss in some mixed rhythms here and there.

As a result, much of the guitar is pretty basic; its raw sound almost sounds like the buzz saw rhythms of traditional Black Metal with the vocals carrying on a typical death grunt similar to that of Glen Benton of Deicide, without the high pitched shrieking part. As a result, one has a nice mix of Black and Death Metal. Some tracks are more basic Death Metal without a focus on the drums such as "Loneworlf Terrorist" where the drums suddenly are pushed in the background, and sadly tracks like these stand out less and feel more generic, or like they came from a different album or demo due to the extra raw quality that isn't so varied from the rest. Compared to a track like "Luftwaffe..." it just seems like Death Metal heard dime a dozen. The same can be said for "Dawn Of The Nuclear Holocaust," which goes by so quickly fans might be surprise it is even present on the album. The closing track shifts things a bit with just some violin played over a battle scene and then fading out; a nice classical touch that probably would have served better as the intro and the intro the outro, but it closes the album on a harmonic note while still presenting a soundscape of crushing, violent Metal.
