Sisters Of Suffocation - Brutal Queen

Sisters of Suffocation are a four piece all female group, from the Netherlands, unleashing their debut EP, I love the name! A nice little nod to the godfathers of brutality. It’s just shy of 20 minutes and we get 5 tracks of solid death metal, it’s slightly more palatable than Suffocation, it’s a little more in the vein of early Lamb Of God.

All four members (Els Prins - vocals, Simone van Straten - guitar, Amber de Buijzer - drums and Puck Wildschut on bass) are on fine form and the band just ooze potential. The riffs shred and there’s just a hint of melody to keep it going overboard, the opening title track is fucking vicious. 'Tales Of A Martyr' has an evil bassline and a superb chorus, again maintaining the fine art of balancing ferocity and melody all adds to the intensity. Vocalist Els is awesome. Showing of an excellent range, from deep growls to screechy almost black metal highs. The songs are catchy and well constructed.

All round is a great little package and this band really have the potential to go far. Even if Sisters Of Suffocation don’t work out you can guarantee you are going to see members of the band doing something big in the future.
