Skeletal Remains – Devouring Mortality
It’s been a long time since an album has kicked me in the balls like this has on first listen. I have said in the past that the third album is what determines a bands destiny. Well this without doubt will lead to countless festival bookings and tours because Skeletal remains have just unleashed a monster.
With a blistering performance but this time with a Dan Swano mix job and Dan Seagrave artwork we get a full classic death metal package. The band don’t mess around on opener 'Ripperology' we are straight in scorching riffs, frantic rhythms and piercing lead work and front man Chris Monroy’s vocals are tortured and full of rage.
It’s a thrashier version of Obituary with James Murphy and Chuck Schuldiner solos which I think is quite possibly the greatest sentence ever written.
Things slow down slightly on 'Torture Labyrinth' and 'Lifeless Manifestation' but not for long before things pick up again.
I’m keeping it brief, you need this album. Its 45 minutes of pure Death Metal thrashing magic. It’s amazing. Just get it.
