Skineater - Dermal Harvest
What's that damn it? Something like an underground all star band or what? I mean besides the drummer of those Skin eating, Swedish bastards, Matte Modin with whom I came up with in Dark funeral and Defleshed, all the other members have participated, and some are still playing in bands as GrandExit, In Thy Dreams, Wombbath, The Absence, Carnal Forge and the list can get a lot bigger trust me! The whole skin eating thing got started around 2008 but it was not until 2011 til they got something really serious down! 2011 was the last of a series of numerous member changes, the contract with Pulverised Records and the start of the recordings for this extreme piece of art that came out on 2012!
"Dermal Harvest" is the debut album of Skineater and it is truly what everyone would want to listen from a Swedish death metal band! All the elements are there.. The wrath, the melody, the technique, wrathful moments succeed even more wrathful ones, a crazed singer that growls, screams and rips his throat off at will, a drummer full on kerosene, with brilliant ideas and the appropriate 'know how', filling each riff the way it should be in order to make it sound ten times more dangerous, can only lead to the assumption that "Dermal Harvest" is probably going to be one of the top 10 brutal albums in Sweden for 2013! It is really good! Of course the production couldn't be a step away from extraordinary! Every instrument has its special place in it, everything can be heard loud and clear if someone wants to focus on something, but it also has a cohesive fat sound for those (my self included) who just want to sit back and enjoy the result of 5 lunatics hammering on their instruments! Crystal clear and shiny as it should in this genre so every inch of its pointy edges is obvious and trust me, this one's got many of em!
The lyrical matter couldn't be far from their musical dementia! Lyrics are not in front of me but judging from the titles I believe we have an exquisite recipe of how someone would feel if his skin got removed. Kind of putting us into a serial killer's mind/thoughts and feelings going through someone's head while having someone else down and peeling of his skin!!! Skineater is their name! What did you expect? Love and flowers? The awesome cover is there to prove it all! This time the saying that goes 'Don't judge a book by its cover' goes wasted! Look at the cover of their full length and just imagine what this bad boy here can do to your skin and soul once the play button is pushed, a serious one way ticket to centuries of bodily molestation in hell! No devil needed.They can do the job pretty fine…
