Slaughtered Priest - World Wide War
Slaughtered Priest, with a monicker like that you knowwhat you are getting, or do you? You are going to get a necro Black Metal hellstorm, right? - Wrong! These guys hail from Greece and paly a brand of Thrash Metal ultimately.
The eight tracks on offer here fly by in a blur of largely second rate generic thrash riffs and the occasional Black Metal riff - see Slaughtered Priest song but not a solo in sight. A guitar solo peppered here and there would add to this release no end. It is all competently played but nothing inspirational and that is one of the problems. The biggest problem here is the vocals. I am all for mixing it up but we have the thrash riffs with an again generic Black Metal vocal but then on occasion this gang vocal creeps in almost in a crossover style which I like on occasion but here it simply does not gel and distracts this listner and detracts from the impact of the music.
I don't care what you look like but for the purposes of illustration these guys are corpse painted - image means nothing to me but having said that we have corpse painted guys with a Black Metal vocal. Sowe have a Black Metal influence and gang vocals but the whole package is not focused enough. Some experiments don't work. I am sure they have convinced themselves just not the rest of us.
