Sore - Gruesome Pillowbook Tales

Sore is a band from Germany and the members played in Kadaverficker, Bereaved and Depression (that explains the cover). This is there debut album which clocks almost 30 minutes away. Gory and filthy death metal, tempo is in the mid section with stamping rhythms like some grind bands use and fast parts. Vocals are really deep (therefor the mask?) and he is doing some pigscreams as well which give it the necessary variation. And that necessary variation is also needed in the songs. Oh yeah they are dirty, aggressive and stomping but overall it sounds the same. I am not that fan of the way the guitars shred and I want to hear sharpy leads. "Gruesome Pillowbook Tales" sounds gory death metal in a solid jacket with touches of old school but I was hoping a bit more tension. Elements that trigger and make the tracks really gruesome. But the quality of the band is there and they will develop in the nearby future. But what I also don't understand is why bands still cover "Boneyard"... And as an extra you find a videoclip on the disc of the song "Crags To The Infinite". The disc is available for 10 euro + postage so write to the email underneath to get it.
