Suffer The Wrath - Suffer The Wrath
Anti-Christian legions ‘Suffer The Wrath’ spout their death metal teachings out of the United States, Springfield, Illinois to be precise.
European fans will get a chance to see this band at Metal Camp this year, do yourselves a favour, check them out, I liked this, masterful and professionally done with all the death metal wizardry of the last 20 years thrown in for good measure. Although a self produced release, the production is crisp, clear and heavy as hell. The artwork, penned by Mindrape Art is one of the most striking and favourable paintings I have viewed in a while. Not overtly conceptual, but straight to the point. Lord Payne’s vocals are brutal and consistent, a little more monstrous on ‘Facial Fist Fuck’ (what a nice thought – ha!). If you like Deicide, Vital Remains and Death, you will like this band. Listening to ‘Suffer The Wrath’ (the track), you can hear more than a simple blues pentatonic interpretation, perhaps these gents have some musical teachings up their sleeves, but the death metal encompasses some jazz flirtations, similar in some cases to European death metal, meaning their approach rather than a musical comparison. ‘Born Again Sinner’ has a classic opening riff, and it simply up to the listener to hold onto their balls (or whatever you have) for this standout track whilst Sinister Hell and Lord Payne accompany you to the fiery pits of hell.
After 6 tracks, I want more, countless spins of this release make you hair stand on end and realise, the big boys in the death metal world may have had their day, move over and let Suffer the Wrath truly inflict their wrath upon you. You will not be disappointed.
