Summer Slaughter Tour - LIVE 2009
date: 09 July, 2009
venue: First Avenue, Minneapolis, MN, USA
The Summer Slaughter Tour is in its third year now and currently making its way across North America with a great mix of heavy bands. This tour seems to offer something for everyone with its diverse mix of talent playing each show. This year there is a mix of brutal death metal, hardcore, power metal and death metal. This diverse mix of bands brings a diverse crowd out to the shows.
One of the only problems with the tour is the start time and set lengths. With doors opening at 1PM and the show starting around 2PM, and the date being on a Thursday in Minnesota, many people have to choose between work and concert. Set times also seemed very short, with openers Blackguard and Decrepit Birth getting about 20 to 30 minutes, and evening the more popular bands like After The Burial getting not much more than 40 minutes.
the place either seemed packed, or almost only half full. Of course the bar area was open, so if you weren’t into the band playing, and were of age, you were throwing back some brews with your pals.
No matter what, The Summer Slaughter had a great lineup, even if you didn’t like every single band playing. Bands like Origin and Dying Fetus tore the crowd apart with their unmatched skill and brutality. With the exception of Necrophagist almost not making it to the show due to bus troubles, the show went off without a hitch. All the bands played very well, and it was difficult to not have a good time. Make sure you check out this tour before it ends!
The Summer Slaughter Tour 2009 featured: Necrophagist, Suffocation, Ensiferum, Darkest Hour, Winds of Plague, Dying Fetus, Born Of Osiris, Origin, Beneath The Massacre, After The Burial, Decrepit Birth, Blackguard.
