Svart Crown - Ages Of Decay

Svart Crown is a Death / Black Metal band from France and Rupture Music felt the need to release this full length release in 2008. “Ages Of Decay” has its own darksome prevailing mood, which is a nice basement for over 45 minutes of unmerciful musical visions. This album isn´t based on high speed drum work only, because the guys of Svart Crown know how to add some groove and Thrash Metal like parts to their tracks. This fact leaves enough space for the string fraction to unfold themselves with versed and melodic components and remarkable riffs. There are practically no guitar solos on this album, but it doesn´t derogate the excellent general impression, because the songs contain enough parts to avoid getting boring. A wrathful vocalist spreads his messages about death, the apocalypse, sodomy, etc. to make sure his contribution fits the music very well. “Onward To The Slaughter” is a short instrumental track, which gives you the chances to take a breath before “Apocalyptic Triumph” delivers the final coupe de gracé. Even if the bands style is pretty gruff and anyhow performed with murderous precision, there are lots of hidden details and intricate structures to enhance this piece of great musicianship. The above-average sound quality leaves no questions and fans of Behemoth, Dew-Scented and Sacramentum should check Svart Crown out. 4 / 5 points for an ambitious high quality release and a new hope for the French underground scene.
