Svartskog - With Fire And Sword

Svartskog is suprisingly by the titles a project based in Canada and run by Morok - all instruments and Boyan Kveld Ulf (Hamfarir) - clean vocals and solo guitar. Firstly listening my first thoughts are "wow yet again, no expense spent" the music is so quiet that it is almost acaperla which is at times a shame as you hear some good influence Hecate Enthroned being one almost but as the album progresses there is much confusion as different styles of black metal join together and prove ultimatley that they don't work. The most hilarious part is the one guitar solo which shreds in following a mincing flute section and must be heard to be believed. Really this album doesn't know if it is coming or going. One moment it's trying to be battle metal and then it's trying to be old school Norwegian black metal, trying being the opperative word. So I'll sum this up. Another shit Bathory attempt, sorry, unbelevably shit one. No stars for the album it wasn't even funny check out the German version.
