AnhedoniA hails from the Kangaroo Continent of Australia and their style of music is interesting to say the least. They definitely have a mainstream sound that is most likely popular with people who like bands like Avenged Sevenfold and Disturbed.

Now, I'm not dissing these guys. They worked hard on this release and the vocals are so crisp that it's hard to believe they are human. But they are and that makes them that much more amazing.

I'm not sure if 'Black Circles' is a hit in Australia, but it will be. I mean, I didn't fall in love with this CD, but this song got stuck in my head everyday for the last five days.

'Fear of the Unknown' has a very "Disturbed-ish" sound to it and about three minutes in sounds like Avenged Sevnfold. There is a lot of tight melodies and breakdowns in this song.

'Through the Madness' is interesting becuase the music is fast while the vocals are of a slower tempo. It meshes and makes this one of the top tracks on the CD. The chorus chimes in and it's like a virtual explosion of bass, drums and guitar that would take hours to pick up off a virtual floor.

'Where the Dead Grow' (which is a badass title) has a groove type feel to it almost erotic in nature. Layered vocals make the song haunting which is always fun.

Ultimately, the first time I listened to this CD, I hated it. But after a second go-round, I listened to it a little more intently. After realizing I was singing along in some parts and banging on my steering wheel to the drums in others, I came to a couple conclusions:

a) This is definitely music for the masses whose favorite artists are played on rock radio.

b) The lyrics are catchy and the songs are clean.

So if you like mainstream metal and heavy songs played on the radio this CD is definitely one to pick up.
