The Kandidate - Until We Are Outnumbered

Danish death/thrash metallers, The Kandidate, offer up their full length debut album entitled "Until We Are Outnumbered". This album brings a typical hardcore assault on your senses with its heavy thrashy guitars, pummeling drums, and raging harsh vocals. While this is a powerful release that is great for the mosh pit, it's also mind numbing. The songs are mundane and monotonous. Throughout the entire album the drum patterns and guitar work rarely change.  At times the vocals are sloppy and offer nothing but repetitive angry yells. Lyrically it's weak and the songwriting is shallow. This short 30 minute album could barely hold my interest. The best song on the album is the instrumental "We Conform To The Unrighteous". It's heavy slow-tempo guitar work is reminiscent of Alice in Chains. Overall, the band has great potential if they would add some diversity to their albums.
