Thy Final Pain - Epitaph

Thy Final Pain was formed back in 2007 among others by ex-members of the German underground Death Metal band Debauchery. To be honest, I never understood why Debauchery has such a huge following. But that´s not the point in this review. Talking about Thy Final Pain´s debut full length album “Epitaph” right now. It was unleashed last years spring and when I first heard it, I was very satisfied with the powerful downtuned guitarsound and the general impression of the whole production. But the flaw is, that the band sounds almost similar to Debauchery. Midtempo based songs with only a few slight variations could be a little bit boring if you listen to the whole 51min. of “Epitaph”. Old school Death Metal (or to quote the band: Massive Rhythmic Death Metal) could be pretty cool if it´s well done, but this one is plain too simple and too average. Although “Epitaph” has a good production, this album is only suitable for people who like Six Feet Under, Debauchery or Deification. So it´s up to you if you give these guys from South West Germany a chance to spread their music in your auditory canal.
