Total Fucking Destruction - Hater
Released February 15, 2011, Total Fucking Destruction's third album entitled "Hater" is a project of Brutal Truth drummer Rich Hoak. This grindcore album is full of 27 tracks and 27 minutes of frantic adrenaline rush. Tracks range from seconds to almost three minutes long, which of course, the "microsong" is typical for a grindcore album.
This heavily punk influenced album is absolutely fantastic. Hoak does a wonderful job of providing lead vocals and his masterful grindcore drumming is a showcase on this album. His vocal ability is excellent. From his growls to his screams, Hoak's range is top notch. Not to mention, the ability to maintain lyrical clarity while pummeling the drums is quite amazing.
One of the best tracks on this release, "Everything You Need But Nothing You Want" starts out with a punk in your face then shifts seamlessly into a great bluesy groove guitar then back into the heavy punk beat. This album is a great example of what a band can do correctly when experimenting lyrically and musically. The band's creativity shines on this release.
I cannot overstate that the musical variety on this release is superb. Styles range from thrash to heavy metal and groove to punk. Certainly one of the most original and creative albums to come out this year. This is truly some of the best grindcore out there. Definitely not to be missed by any metal fan.
