Violent Revolution - Damaged Society

Arizona USA breathes life to this new group formed by ex-Agent Steel and Détente members. Whilst thoroughly in the thrash/crossover style, the heritage of the group members translates well into the overall sound, but it is quite primitive in places. Ok, this is a demo, but the guitars often overbear the mix when going into solo mode and I find the chorus chant of ‘All Hail!’ a bit distracting compared to the reminder of the mix, but you can still get the overall feel of each of the tracks.

With a few sound samples added for a sense of familiarity with this style (another pet hate of mine!), Violent Revolution bash the boards and give you a classic crossover rendition with such tunes as ‘Damaged’ and the closer ‘Sudden Death’. This would certainly strike a chord with the many DRI fans out there as a whole too.

Overall, a promising, but in reality just an ok start. Considering a demo that is released in this day and age, the mix is a touch disappointing, ‘Damaged Society’ leaves me with the hope of a better mix in proposed future recordings increase to a necessity rather than a desire as time progresses.
