Warfist + Exhalation + Mesmerized - Satanic And Violent Metal Aggression

Three rather unknown Polish bands teamed up for this Split CD. If you read its title, you can easily imagine what to expect. So if you´re looking for something trendy or extremely melodic, you better skip this review.

The first band, Warfist, kicks this CD off with dark, aggressive and raw Black / Thrash Metal in the vein of Aura Noir or Infernö. Their songs are straight-line and without any compromise. A cover of Venoms all-time classic “Welcome To Hell” closes the first part of this album with style. The only point of criticism is the recording quality. The drums are simply too quiet and a bass guitar is also almost not audible. Nevertheless, the tracks own an attraction and they´re surely suitable for underground hardliners.

Exhalation is the second act on this CD and their style can be described as Death Metal with Thrash Metal influences. The music´s also pretty raw, but the sound quality is better than Warfists offering. Seems like Exhalations songs are the same as on their “Embodied Filth” demo. Anyway, I didn´t know this band before and they really surprised me with their dedication and devotedness to true underground Death / Thrash.

Mesmerized are responsible for the last five numbers. The recording quality drops a little bit drown again, but I´m sure you´ll get the musical vision of these guys. Even if there could have been a louder bass guitar. Their melodic Black / Death Metal is well executed and also thought-out, but if you take a look at the band history, you´ll notice that their tracks were also already released as a part of a Split CD back in 2006. I don´t know why the Mesmerized dudes didn´t record some new stuff. However, the high speed blasting underlines the aggressive attitude very well and there´s no doubt about the skills.

The result is an interesting Split CD with many highs and just a few lows and diehard Black / Thrash / Death Metal fans should give this album a try. On the other hand it´s open to dispute about sense and nonsense of re-releasing older stuff, but in my opinion it would have been better to launch fresh and unused tracks.
