The Beyond - Frostbitepanzerfuck

Taken from the dark recesses of Pennsylvania, USA... brings you The Beyond. Really cool side project from the drummer in the sick black metal project called Horde Of The Eclipse. The album starts off with straight up punk with joke lyrics and a couple sweet rock solo's. Definitely was not expecting straight up punk like this. The artwork is pret...

Nightbringer / Dodsengel - Circumambulations Of The Solar Inferno

One of the finest pairings in black metal for a split. Both Nightbringer and Dodsengel bring a similar dish to the table. If you have an appetite for distress then turn it up and fade out. A whisper for the week of heart. A tale for the defeated man seeking a set path. To dismally fade away into an overwhelmed existence. So smothered in sadness...

Lugnasad - Smell Of A Grey Sore

Everytime I hear a new band from France I get excited. That place cranks out awesome metal on a regular basis. Lugnasad give us a nice and gritty treat here on their debut album. The beginning of the album sounds like straight up Dissection worship. The overall production and some song writing definitely reminds me of Storm Of The Light's Bane....

Outre - Tranquility

This has to possibly be the one of the best debut releases in metal ever. This EP has amazing replay value and doesn't get old. Poland usually doesn't dissapoint and here is a testament to that with "Tranquility."

All too many times bands either melt your face off or drag out the intro track so far you've already skipped to the s...

Sawhill Sacrifice - Deus Humana Satanas

This album is for true die hard fans of the black arts. Conjuring influences from some serious heavy hitters like; Dissection, Emperor, Edge Of Sanity and Anaal Nathrakh. A fresh take on the logo design as well. It's great to be able to actually read the band name and still appreciate the artistic design. Finland always gives us something delectabl...

Odem - The Valley Of Cut Tongues

Take old school Panzerchrist and Beneath The Massacre and you have Odem's EP, The Valley Of Cut Tongues. Definitely interesting hearing a band be able to incorporate multiple metal genres together and be able to come out with something original.

More and more were seeing bands with hardcore roots being able to blend just enough death me...

Verbum Verus - Melkiresha

Slowly slurping you into his infernal void of a mouth. Making your writhe with discomfort. Verbum Verus' debut release,"Melkiresha" creeps into you and then slithers out ever so easily.

The vocals stand out the most here. Not a convential screaming style and also going against the grain of the rhythm... in a good way. The spoken word an...

Defeated Sanity - Passages Into Deformity

You get pushed down the stairs only to have a personal face to face meeting with the concrete below. As you gasp for air in mid flight you slam into the floor so hard you break the bridge of your nose. Your lungs seize and fill with blood as the person who shoved you kicks you in the ribs. After a massive adrenaline rush you sweep the persons legs...

Noisear - Turbulent Resurgence

Mowing down the employeed sheep with torrent guns. The sound of tanks crushing bones. This is just some of the imagery created on Noisear's album Turbulent Resurgence. This is the soundtrack to the apocalypse.

No time to think, no time to breath and no time to decipher the sceams. Either start killing or become a pile of your own waste....

Deathmoor - Opus Morte III

Scream out in agony, cry out for your indifference, and simply be cathartic. Why over complicate human pain with complex music or overly intricate artwork. Deathmoor on their third full length, "Opus Mortus III" certainly doesn't but instead conveys an emotion that we've somewhat lost.... purity. It seems a handful of Russian metal bands tackle the...

Serpent Noir - Seeing Through The Shadow Consciousness

Greece continues to surprise me with awesome gems of pure darkness. If it's not Nuclear War Now! shredding my skin it's Daemon Worship pummeling me with some new northern darkness. This is the first full length from Serpent Noir.

This is one of those records that is so well rounded it's hard to put into words. The riffs and dynamics of...

The Ascendant - The Spiritual Death EP

So who doesn't like the drummer in Marduk? Exactly no one.... Well here is Lars in his side project called The Ascendant with their first release. This might be two songs but I'd rather listen to this prestine EP than some mediocre full length. The intro to "The Becoming" is quite enthralling and builds on the anticipation of hearing the rest of...
